RCREEE and RE-ACTIVATE co-organize regional Conference on “Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions in the MENA Region: A Driver of Local Value and Job Creation”
The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS) and the regional GIZ project RE-ACTIVATE are organizing a regional conference on “Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions in the Arab Region: A Driver of Local Value and Job Creation”. The conference will be held back to back with the Arab energy efficiency day on the 22nd May, 2017 in Cairo.
The conference aims at presenting the Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) solutions, which are currently at the forefront of technological and industrial development, and how they contribute to energy security and socio-economic development in key developing and emerging countries worldwide.
In addition, it will discuss international and regional benchmarks and best practices in this field and share experiences on appropriate solutions that can maximize the socio-economic benefits of DRE solutions in the Arab Region.
This conference targets decision makers, policy makers, public and private sector representatives (including banks), experts and researchers, representatives from regional and international institutions, as well as media and civil society organizations.
RE-ACTIVATE is a project implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). RE-ACTIVATE supports the partner countries in the MENA, particularly Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, in making targeted use of the socio-economic effects of RE/EE. It supports the partners in identifying the employment effects of different applications and in further developing their policy approaches in this regard. It facilitates the development of suitable framework conditions and adapted support instruments and helps to build skills at local level. Successful examples are documented and fed into public dialogues. Further, concrete roll-out measures and pilot projects are organized at local level to support market development.
