RCREEE discusses quality assurance of PV power plants

14 December 2015 – RCREEE in cooperation with League of Arab States (LAS), GIZ and Fraunhofer ISE organized an expert workshop on “Quality Assurance of PV Power Plants” in Cairo, Egypt.

Dr. Maged Mahmoud, RCREEE head of projects and technical affairs moderated the workshop. In his opening remark RCREEE executive director welcomed the attendees and thanked the League of Arab States for hosting the event in their Cairo headquarters.

During the event, representatives from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon presented experiences from their countries about the RE development schemes. They explained the means used in each country to assure quality of PV projects and the regulatory frames to maintain the quality of solar projects.

In addition, representatives from Fraunhofer ISE introduced quality assurance related experiences from Europe and presented the quality measures on component, and system levels.

Finally, the attendees concluded with a number recommendations for the future of solar projects, such as designing a regional guideline for quality management of PV power plants, tailoring a capacity building knowledge transfer program for quality assurance of PV plants and starting a regional platform for dialogue on quality assurance and risk mitigation of power plants.
