Training Workshop on “The Arab Renewable Energy Framework” and “Renewable Energy Progress Reporting Guideline for LAS Member States”

The League of Arab States and RCREEE has organized this month together in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy a workshop on “The Arab Renewable Energy Framework and Renewable Energy Progress Reporting Guideline for LAS Member States”, which took place on the 10th and 11th January 2017 in Tunis. The workshop has been attended by GIZ Tunisia, Agence Nationale pour la Maîtrise de l'Energie (ANME), and representatives from Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Mauritania, Sudan, Djibouti, Palestine, Bahrain, Jordon, Kuwait and Iraq.

The training workshop aimed to outline the Arab Renewable Energy Framework (AREF) and the Arab National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) objectives and achieved progress, present the Lebanese and Sudanese NREAPs and introduce the monitoring and reporting tool developed with support of GIZ to assess the progress of renewable energy on the national level. The opening notes were given by Mr. Hamdi Harrouch, the CEO of ANME, Dr. Maged Mahmoud, RCREEE’s Technical Director, and Mr. Ashraf Kraidy, Advisor to the Energy Department at the league of Arab States.
