RCREEE co-organizes online meeting on “Innovative Financing Modalities for Solar Pumping Irrigation Systems in Egypt”
The Nexus Dialogue Programme-MENA, the League of Arab States (LAS) and GIZ Egypt Programme Promotion of Access to Financial Services for SMEs (PAFSME) in collaboration with FAO-RNE, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) organized an online meeting on “Innovative Financing Modalities for Solar Pumping Irrigation Systems (SPIS) in Egypt” on 15 June 2020.
The meeting is the first event in a series of events on this topic, aiming at defining the way forward for promoting SPIS in the Arab region- using Egypt as a model- through facilitating SPIS finance for small holder farmers.
During the meeting, Dr. Maged Mahmoud, RCREEE Acting Executive Director moderated a session on Financing models for PV. Dr. Maged also delivered a presentation on financing models for Solar Pumping Irrigation Systems highlighting examples from the Arab Region.
In 2017, RCREEE and GIZ RE-ACTIVATE Project published a market assessment study on Socio-Economic Impacts for Solar Pumping Systems in terms of Local Job and Value Creation in Egypt. In addition to a guiding manual on Solar water pumping systems for agricultural irrigation in Egypt.
