RCREEE holds a two day workshop on “Designing and Implementing Quality Standards and Quality Assurance Mechanisms for RE/EE Professional and Further Training in the MENA Region
The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) and the Regional Project RE-ACTIVATE of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) organized a workshop on 2 and 3 June 2015, in Cairo under the title “Designing and Implementing Quality Standards and Quality Assurance Mechanisms for RE/EE Professional and Further Training in the MENA Region”.
The workshop presented two studies carried out by RCREEE and GIZ on Market investigation of the current status of standards and trainings in the MENA region and international benchmarks and best practices in the field of RE/EE professional and further training.
The event was also an opportunity to establish a regional discussion on the current situation of capacity development activities in Arab region. The attendees looked in the possibility of developing concrete actions, approaches and mechanisms to improve and establish more reality-adjusted quality standards and training offerings in MENA countries. In addition they discussed the establishment of certification and accreditation schemes for capacity development activities in the region.
The event attracted more than 30 participants from Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia representing governmental institutions, training providers and other stakeholders. Attendees emphasized on the importance of the initiative to create a regional network and dialogue mechanism that will facilitate the cooperation among the countries of the region.
The workshop concluded with a site visit to the renewable energy laboratories of the Faculty for Engineering at the Cairo University.
