Objectives, tasks and responsibilities
The job’s objective is to provide technical support intern to the RCREEE Team on different tasks and responsibilities as follows:
Web Development and Application Support
- Maintaining and providing technical management for RCREEE’s database applications, web-based applications, and information systems built on Drupal, Moodle and WordPress platforms.
- Monitoring and recovering downtime of the servers.
- Protecting and recovering from any security issues on the servers.
- Contacting the ISP for any issue related to network or operating system.
- Ensuring best practices in technical data integration with other partner platforms.
- Suggesting and implementing new or improved features in different RCREEE web products, including design, development etc. related to new development and/or modifications requested on RCREEE’s applications and information systems.
- Ensuring content management and data migration if required in coordination with relevant technical and administrative teams.
- Suggesting knowledge management and technology procurements and coordination to ensure cost efficient and technology optimum choices for RCREEE knowledge management tools, online channels and infrastructure.
- Carrying out training workshops and training in-house staff members if required.
- Supporting technical and scientific meetings, conferences or capacity building and training activities and represent RCREEE, when needed.
- Helping in other relevant IT related technical tasks as required.
- In case of projects with external developers and partners, the IT support specialist will help in the design, coordination and validation of beta-versions in accordance with ToR and providing feedback to developers for corrective actions.
Skills Required:
Technical:
- Minimum of three years of web development and technical support experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, software development, PHP, SQL, working with linked data, Drupal, Moodle, WordPress, Amazon cloud servers, RDS database. User interface design is a plus.
- Knowledge of MS Excel and CSV files, and batch importing techniques.
- Experience supporting desktop, laptop, PDAs and wireless devices.
Personal:
- Must have excellent team/customer service skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and directed fashion, and lead teams in such situations as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
- Must possess exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline orientated.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Must be accustomed to working on various issues simultaneously and ensuring the integrity of each project.
General Terms and Conditions
- The Web Applications Development and Support Intern is required to work from RCREEE’s Cairo office on a full-time basis
- The Web Applications Development and Support intern will be contracted on lump sum fees paid in parts according to scheduled monthly deliverables (equivalent to 250 Euro Monthly)
Tenure of Appointment
- The initial appointment will be for 6 months including a 3 months’ probation period.
- Contract extension will be subject to performance and availability of funding.
Age Requirement
- Preferably between the age of 23 and 35.
