Background:
The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is a not-for-profit regional organization founded by governmental representatives from ten Arab countries in 2008 and headquartered in Cairo. RCREEE’s mission is to initiate regional policy dialogues and promote strategies and partnerships favorable to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RE&EE) investments in the member states of the Arab region.
Today, RCREEE has sixteen Arab countries among its member states. RCREEE strives to serve the needs of all Arab States through multiple projects implemented in close cooperation with different regional and international organizations. RCREEE’s funding is made possible by grant agreements with“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit” (GIZ), and the government of Egypt as well as through member states contributions and fee-for-service contracts.

Objectives, tasks and responsibilities:
The job’s objective is to provide technical support to the RCREEE Team on different tasks and responsibilities as follows:
Technical support
- Deliver MIS/IT support for RCREEE internal team and technical projects including but not limited to, personal and telephone consultations, email support, instructional information requested and unlimited application support.
- Identify, troubleshoot, research, support and resolve MIS/IT and application issues. These will include:
- Providing full and best effort support for all software products, applications and the network environment.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Report technical issues and requests to appropriate project or administration manager when necessary.
Web Development and Application Support
- Maintaining and providing technical management for RCREEE’s database applications, web-based applications, and information systems built on Drupal, Moodle and WordPress platforms.
- Monitoring and recovering downtime of the servers.
- Protecting and recovering from any security issues on the servers.
- Contacting the ISP for any issue related to network or operating system.
- Ensuring best practices in technical data integration with other partner platforms.
- Suggesting and implementing new or improved features in different RCREEE web products, including design, development etc. related to new development and/or modifications requested on RCREEE’s applications and information systems.
- Ensuring content management and data migration if required in coordination with relevant technical and administrative teams.
- Suggesting knowledge management and technology procurements and coordination to ensure cost efficient and technology optimum choices for RCREEE knowledge management tools, online channels and infrastructure.
- Carrying out training workshops and training in-house staff members if required.
- Supporting technical and scientific meetings, conferences or capacity building and training activities and represent RCREEE, when needed.
- Helping in other relevant IT related technical tasks as required.
- Provide analytical reports on the traffic and nature of users of the website and manage the Google Analytics accounts
- Manage the email hosting-related issues
- Liaise with the communication team and graphics designers regarding the user experience and feel of the online tools and products and advise technically.
- In case of projects with external developers and partners, the IT support specialist will help in the design, coordination and validate the beta-mode in accordance with ToR and providing feedback to developers for corrective actions.
Skills Required:
Technical:
- Minimum of three years of web development and technical support experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or IT related diploma.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, software development, Networks, PHP and SQL, working with linked data, Drupal, Moodle, WordPress, Amazon cloud servers, RDS database. User interface design is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, MS Windows operating systems, Windows server platforms, network diagnostic tools, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and DHCP.
- MCP, MCDST & MCSE designation or working equivalent.
- Knowledge of MS Excel and CSV files, and batch importing techniques.
- Experience supporting desktop, laptop, PDAs and wireless devices.
Personal:
- Must have excellent team/customer service skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and directed fashion, and lead teams in such situations as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
- Must possess exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline orientated.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Must be accustomed to working on various issues simultaneously and ensuring the integrity of each project.
General Terms and Conditions:
- The IT support specialist is required to work from RCREEE’s Cairo office on a full-time basis
- The IT support specialist will be contracted on the basis of service procurement contract with lump sum fees paid in parts according to scheduled monthly deliverables (EGP 5000 monthly).
Tenure of Appointment
The initial appointment will be for 12 months including a 6 month probation period.
Contract extension will be subject to performance and availability of funding.

- Preferably between the age of 23 and 35.
