Background
he Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency across the Arab region. RCREEE works with governments, development partners, international organizations, and the private sector to support sustainable energy policies and projects.
RCREEE is seeking a qualified and motivated Accountant Coordinator to join its Finance Unit on a project-based contract. The successful candidate will support the financial management and implementation of donor-funded projects while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Manage cash box accounts for donor-funded projects and accurately record all related transactions in the Odoo ERP system.
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities and record financial transactions in the Odoo ERP system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Process bank transactions, including fund transfers, cash withdrawals, and foreign currency exchange.
- Monitor and follow up on accounts payable (AP) schedules with contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure timely payments.
- Update accounts receivable (AR) records and prepare and issue invoices in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Verify that invoices have been properly reviewed, approved, and processed in accordance with the approved delegation of authority and approval matrix.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts by reviewing, verifying, and balancing financial records.
- Monitor project expenditures and operational costs to ensure compliance with approved budgets and identify any variances.
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Up to 2 years of relevant professional experience, including internships or equivalent practical experience.
- Good command of both English and Arabic, written and spoken.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under close supervision while managing routine operational assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provide operational support.
Contract Duration
- This is a project-based, fixed-term position. The duration of the contract will be linked to the project implementation period, with the possibility of extension based on project needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance.
