Capacity building workshop on “Open Solar Contracts (OSC) in Arab Countries”
Under the framework of The Pan-Arab Clean Energy Initiative (PACE), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in cooperation with League of Arab States (LAS), and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) co-organized a virtual capacity building workshop on “Open Solar Contracts (OSC) in Arab Countries” on 7-8 December 2021.
The Pan-Arab Clean Energy Initiative (PACE), is one of the initiatives included in the Roadmap of Actions for the implementation of the Pan-Arab Sustainable Energy Strategy 2014-2030. It is a regional initiative that aims to promote the integration of greater shares of renewables into power systems of the Arab region.
The two-days online workshop included a combination of informative presentations, case study analysis, interactive exercises and discussion sessions aiming to empower participants with the practical skills and confidence to utilize OSC. In addition, the workshop attendees gained the knowledge to clearly identify and mitigate contractual risks of affordable solar energy and to prepare an Open Solar Contracts set of Implementation Agreement and PPA for their countries.
