About RCREEE

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an independent intergovernmental organization, which aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy, and energy efficiency practices in the Arab region. RCREEE teams with regional governments and global organizations to initiate and lead clean energy policy dialogues, strategies, technologies, and capacity development to increase Arab states’ share of tomorrow’s energy.

Job Description

The Sustainability Specialist will play a key role in supporting the implementation of sustainability in terms of sustainable pillars, environmental aspects, renewable energy and energy efficiency within the organization. They will work closely with sustainability services to ensure the sharing of the best standards and practices in all sustainability projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and projects.
  • Conduct technical assessments and analysis to identify opportunities for climate finance integration and green finance improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise on SDGs implementation and measures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency practices.
  • Support the development of policies and regulations in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Requirements and Competencies

Minimum qualification requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in engineering, environment, sustainability or related field.
  • At least four (4) years of professional experience in sustainability.
  • Knowledge of climate finance, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (verbal and written) extra languages will be a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in project coordination.
  • Experience in finance, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and promote teamwork.

The Candidate is required to have:

  • Sustainability: strong understanding of environmental sustainability measures, economic sustainability measures, social sustainability measures, policy & regulatory sustainability measures and technological & innovation-driven sustainability measures.
  • Climate Finance & Green Investments: Knowledge in climate finance mechanisms, green bonds, carbon credits, and financial structuring of renewable energy projects.
  • Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency: understanding of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency measures, including energy audits, efficiency retrofits, and sustainable building practices.
  • Technical Assessments & Data Analysis: Ability to conduct feasibility studies, and impact assessments to identify opportunities for climate finance integration.
  • SDG Implementation: familiarity in applying and aligning renewable energy projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Policy & Regulatory Knowledge: familiarity with energy regulations, climate policies, and government incentives for renewable energy and sustainability projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: ability to collaborate with government agencies, financial institutions, and private sector entities to advance sustainable energy initiatives.

General Terms and Conditions

  • The Candidate is required to work from RCREEE’s Cairo office.

Tenure of Appointment

  • The initial appointment will be for 12 months including a 3-month probation period.
  • Contract extension will be subject to performance, needs, and availability of funds.
