RCREEE welcomes New Executive Director Dr. Jauad ElKharraz
The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) Board of Directors selects Dr. Jauad El Kharraz to be RCREEE’s Executive Director
October 3,2021 Cairo-Egypt: RCREEE secretariat welcomes Dr. Jauad El Kharraz as the new Executive Director for a 3-year term. Following his contract signature, Dr. El Kharraz is taking his office today succeeding Dr. Ahmed Badr.
Dr. El Kharraz has been working as a senior expert, advisor and evaluator for several international institutions (e.g. European Commission, EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network, KAS-REMENA, Ocean Oasis, COMSTECH Scientific Advisory Council, EMME-CCI Task Force) and member of International Desalination Association, European Desalination Society and Oman Energy Majlis). Prior to joining RCREEE, Dr. El Kharraz held the position of Director of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center in Oman (2015-2020).
Dr. El Kharraz obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in Physics from the Department of Earth Physics and Thermodynamics, University of Valencia, Spain and a diploma in enterprises management and strategies from SKEMA Business School, France.
He brings to RCREEE over 18 years of experience in various sustainable energy fields and sectors including energy policies, wind and solar technologies and green hydrogen in addition to water management, desalination, water-energy-food-climate nexus and environment. Through his journey in sustainable energy fields, he coordinated and contributed to several international programs such as: FP5-FP7, H2020, ENPI CBC Med, INCO MED, INCO NGOs, SMAP, LIFE, PRIMA. Additionally, he carried out projects for international donors such as GIZ, SIDA, IsDB and USAID. Author of many publications, Dr. El Kharraz chaired and contributed to the development of many papers and numerous events worldwide.
After assuming office as RCREEE’s Executive Director and the onboarding process, Dr. Kharraz will lead RCREEE’s Secretariat and the implementation of its strategy aiming to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energies and energy efficiency practices across the Arab region.
