RCREEE and FES co-organize the High Level Policy Dialogue on Green Hydrogen

Green hydrogen has emerged as a key enabler of the transition toward zero emissions. Several countries are adopting national hydrogen strategies to support green hydrogen deployment.

RCREEE in cooperation with the Regional Climate and Energy Project MENA, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) organized “High Level Policy Dialogue on Green Hydrogen” on October 4th, 2021.

The dialogue aimed at strengthening Arab countries capacities and raising regional awareness on Hydrogen technologies, opportunities and applications.

The event brought together more than 50 high-level attendees from the public sector, non-governmental organizations, regional and international organizations.

During the opening session, Dr. Jauad El Kharraz, RCREEE Executive Director welcomed the attendees and extended his appreciation to FES for their standing cooperation with RCREEE since 2019.

The event included an introductory session on global hydrogen economy and green hydrogen opportunities and challenges in the MENA region.

In addition, representatives from Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia exchanged their countries national green hydrogen strategies and targets.

Finally, Eng. Jamila Matar, Director of Energy Department, League of Arab States, Dr. Radia Sedaoui, Chief of Energy Section, UN ESCWA and Eng. Wael Hamed, Gas Industries Expert, OAPEC shared their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of green hydrogen and the priority actions needed on the national level.
