Syria

Syria’s energy sector has been heavily affected by the ongoing hostilities. Prior to the conflict, Syria was a leading natural gas and oil producer in the region. The energy sector accounted for a fourth of government income. Syria is facing difficulties in providing for domestic energy demand, such as electricity service, heating and fuel oil, which results in frequent blackouts.

94% of generated electricity comes from conventional thermal power plants based on oil and gas, whereas 6% come from hydropower. The government has set a 30% from renewable energy resources by 2030.

Syria is a RCREEE member state since 2008.

We are honored to present RCREEE representatives in Syria as follows
