About RCREEE

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an independent intergovernmental organization, which aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy, and energy efficiency practices in the Arab region. RCREEE teams with regional governments and global organizations to initiate and lead clean energy policy dialogues, strategies, technologies, and capacity development to increase Arab states’ share of tomorrow’s energy.

Job Description

The Senior Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Specialist will lead the development and implementation of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency initiatives within RCREEE. They will provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure the successful execution of clean energy initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency initiatives and ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Provide effective support to RCREEE member states in their efforts to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Manage technical guidance on renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency measures.
  • Lead the development of policies and regulations in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct technical assessments and analysis to identify opportunities for renewable energy integration and energy efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency practices.

Requirements and Competencies

Minimum qualification requirements:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree from a recognized university in engineering, renewable energy, energy economy, or related field.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (verbal and written), and French will be highly recommended.
  • At least Six (6) years of professional experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects at the regional level.
  • Knowledge of standards and guidelines related to renewable energy projects.

Experience:

  • Strong analytical skills and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management and team coordination.
  • Experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of law, regulations, principles, procedures, and practices related to improving energy efficiency and renewable energy in the Arab region.
  • Previous experience in energy economics/macroeconomy is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in sustainable energy at regional and/or international levels is desirable.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and promote teamwork.

The Candidate is required to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting techno-economic assessments for energy models using software such as MATLAB, and Python (Energy Modelling tools) including renewable energy technologies, and new energy systems (Hydrogen technologies, Electric vehicles,).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting energy audits in industrial and building sector environments.
  • Provide detailed energy audit reports for each audited facility during site visits, including detailed analysis of energy consumption, identification of energy efficiency opportunities, and recommendations for improvements.

General Terms and Conditions

  • The Candidate is required to work from RCREEE’s Cairo office.

Tenure of Appointment

  • The initial appointment will be for 12 months including a 3-month probation period.
  • Contract extension will be subject to performance, needs, and availability of funds.
