LAS, GIZ and RCREEE discuss de-risking of energy efficiency investments
Energy efficiency measures are harder to quantify and to communicate compared to renewable energy investments. To this end, the League of Arab States (Energy Department), the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) project DIAPOL-CE organized the 3rd meeting on “Financing workstream focusing on de-risking of energy efficiency investments” on 13 January 2022.
The event aims to introduce different tools for de-risking investments into energy efficiency instruments and to present approaches that have been used elsewhere.
During the workshop, the panel discussed experiences from different sectors on ways to increase the “bankability” of Energy Efficiency investments and ways to reduce the associated perceived risks for financial institutions and project developers.
This workshop comes within the third phase of “Policy dialogue and knowledge management on low-emission strategies (DIAPOL-CE)” project implemented by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS) and RCREEE.
