TAQA Power Waste-to-Energy Project
The project is carried out for TAQA Power, a subsidiary of TAQA Arabia Group, which aims to implement the first waste-to-energy plant in Egypt in Alexandria Governorate. Given the center’s leading role in supporting such projects that align with the center’s vision in the field of renewable energy, energy transition, and environmental sustainability, we provide support to the company in preparing the necessary environmental studies for the project. we provide support to the company in preparing the necessary environmental studies for the project.
Outputs:
- Technical feasibility study for the establishment of a solid waste-to-energy plant to be connected to the electricity grid of Alexandria Governorate
- Study of environmental and social constraints for project implementation at the site specified by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment
- Study of water quality, soil type, and surrounding roads
Impact:
The project aims to prepare a study on the waste-to-energy project and the possibility of maximizing the use of municipal solid waste generated in Alexandria Governorate as an energy source.
The study includes identifying the current state of waste generated in the governorate, characterizing and chemically analyzing the waste, and conducting an initial environmental impact assessment for the proposed site.
