Workshop: Enhancing Europe-North Africa Energy Cooperation for a Sustainable Future

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), in collaboration with E3G and ECCO, hosted a transformative workshop in Brussels that brought together key stakeholders to advance renewable energy and energy efficiency cooperation between Europe and North Africa.

The workshop held last week served as a platform to assess the successes and challenges in existing partnerships, identify new opportunities, and lay the foundation for mutually beneficial energy transition strategies. The discussions focused on actionable recommendations to accelerate the deployment of renewables, energy efficiency measures, and clean industries across North Africa.

The event brought together global leaders, policymakers, and experts, including representatives of IRENA, MEDENER, and the European Commission, who shared valuable insights. The discussions led to concrete recommendations aimed at enhancing cooperation frameworks and financing mechanisms, as well as strategic pathways for advancing clean technologies. Key areas of emphasis include green hydrogen development, renewable energy interconnectors, and other innovative solutions critical for a sustainable energy future.

This collaborative effort underscored the shared commitment to fostering a cleaner, more sustainable, and interconnected energy system across the Mediterranean, positioning Europe and North Africa as key players in the global energy transition.
