The Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency held its 24th meeting in the State of Kuwait, from February 18 to19, 2025, chaired by the representative of Kuwait, Eng. Ahmed Al-Dosari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The meeting was inaugurated by His Excellency the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in the State of Kuwait, Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Bushehri. The attendees expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to the State of Kuwait for the excellent organization, generous hospitality and warm reception. They also expressed their deep thanks to His Excellency the Minister, Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, for the patronage of this important event and announcing during the opening, the organization of Kuwait Sustainable Energy Week next May under his generous patronage. This big forum gathers decision-makers, experts and investors from all over the world and will shed light on the latest developments in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency at regional and international levels.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Eng. Ahmed Al-Dosari, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, for his patronage and support of this forum.

During the meeting sessions, a number of important topics related to the activities of the center were discussed, namely the approval of the center’s work plan for 2025, which included mechanisms and programs to provide technical assistance to member states to implement their national strategies for renewable energy and energy efficiency and support them to shift towards clean energy, and adopt large-scale national programs spreading the culture and technology of renewable energy and modern energy efficiency in all sectors. This will also enhance the sustainability of their energy supplies, supports their economies, and contributes to resolving the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve sustainable development targets of the member states.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Dosari congratulated Dr. Omar Jassim, a member of the Executive Committee from the Republic of Iraq, on joining the Executive Committee, representing the countries of the Levant. He also congratulated Dr. Zoheir Hamedi from the Republic of Algeria on gaining the confidence of the members of the Board of Trustees and his appointment as Executive Director of the Center, wishing them success in their new positions.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Dosari highly appreciated the role of the Executive Committee and the Center’s Secretariat in the distinguished preparation for the 24th session of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency meeting.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Dosari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, extended his sincere thanks to the Acting as Director of the Regional Center during the previous period, Dr. Maged Karam El-Din, for his great efforts and dedication in advancing the work of the Center and his role in achieving stability among all employees, wishing him further success through his continued work as Technical Director of the Center.
