RCREEE, UNDP and NREA organize a tailored training course on "Advanced Wind Energy”
October 25, 2020: RCREEE in close cooperation with New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and UNDP commenced a training course entitled “Advanced Wind Energy Training” tailored for Syrian experts.
The course comes as part of RCREEE and UNDP cooperation and efforts organizing long-term capacity building programs for Syrian experts under the second phase of “Training for All” program which was initially launched by UNDP Syria in 2017.
During the course opening statements, RCREEE Acting Director, Dr. Maged K. Mahmoud and NREA Executive Chairman, Dr. Mohamed El Khyat welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of wind energy in the Arab's region energy mix.
Over the course of 10 days, trainers and experts from various domains will be covering a wide range of topics. Besides, a site visit is planned to take place to Zaafrana Wind Farm, one of the largest wind farms in Egypt.
Since United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Syria and RCREEE signed the cooperation agreement to implement capacity-building activities for Syrian Experts in 2019, RCREEE has successfully organized 6 training courses covering a wide range of topics including energy management , solar applications, feasibility studies, risk mitigation, best regional and international practices in Egypt and Lebanon. In addition, site visits were organized to ensure practical experience and knowledge are acquired.
Currently, the two parties are exploring the possibilities of extension their cooperation focusing upon women empowerment in sustainable energy domains.
About “Training for All” program
“Training for All” program aims to enhance and further develop the capacities of Syria Electricity sector to deliver essential services to affected local communities and to support the re-habitation of productive infrastructures. In its second phase, the program gives special attention to enhancing technical and planning at local and national level.
